Things to do

Steephill Cove

One of Britain’s best kept secrets. Small, charming and timeless. Go for rock pools, cafes, restaurant, ice-creams and fab souvenirs. From May to September dogs are welcome before 8.30am and after 5.30pm on the actual beach – during the day they are welcome on leads around the tiny promenade.

Tennyson's Garden at Farringford House

The gardens at Tennyson’s house recently restored are a joy for anyone interested in planting and colour schemes. Two specialist designers from Wisley used old aerial photographs to bring authenticity to the design . If you are a local a multiple entry ticket can be bought otherwise it’s £3.00 .. no cafe on site but the lovely Piano Cafe is just down the road.

Laura-Jane Holistic Therapy

Laura has 30years of professional experience. Her deep-tissue body massage provides a “massive benefit and instant result” (quote from my husband) and her lift and tint eyelash treatment is so good I haven’t needed mascara for weeks.

You can book her in advance, maybe when you book your stay at Petit Tor, or check her website for availability. We can’t recommend her enough.

Guided Walks

For walkers who want an informed and enthusiastic local to take them on a route I can thoroughly recommend Eddie Ash who took me on a wonderful circular route from Carisbrooke Castle. He tailor made the route and I didn’t notice the 12 miles ( thought it was only 6!) fly by.. all abilities catered for and his rate is for the group not per individual.  He is also a local artist and was full of stories, history and geology .

Osborne House

It’s a wonderful outing – we loved the paintings, the interiors, the grounds, the Swiss Cottage and the fabulous walks.
