Petit Tor – New owners
We love this area of the Isle of Wight and were lucky enough to find a place with it’s own ‘botanic gardens’ right by the Botanic Gardens and Steephill Cove, one of the abundance of secluded beaches with it’s rocky coastline, coastal paths and walks.
We also love the Mediterranean-like microclimate which we share with Ventnor Botanic Gardens, dubbed ‘Britain’s hottest garden’ and claimed to be 5oC hotter than the resst of the island and the UK. The IOW is also known for it’s gentle, healthy lifestyle and beautiful scenery.
Our daughter got married at the Botanic Gardens in August 2015 and by March 2016 we’d sold up and moved here!
Our wedding guests struggled to find affordable accommodation in peak August partly because the Saturday changeover dates meant expensive ferries and having to book for 2 weeks just to attend a Saturday wedding! Isle of Wight weddings seem to be growing in popularity and we’re keen to offer quality self-catering accommodation for guests wanting to make either a weekend of it or to stay for the week.
We used to holiday on the Isle of Wight because we love the adventure of the ferry travel, lovely climate, beautiful scenery and loads of things to do, without the hassle and expense going abroad. We spent many holidays visiting Black Gang Chine, Jurassic dinosaur walks, coloured sand souvenir making at Alum Bay and just generally chilling with the children and dogs and we would have loved somewhere like Petit Tor to come home to at night with it’s wonderful gardens and clean, cheerful accommodation.
We also love the tranquility of the island and the abundance of wildlife including the indigenous red squirrels along with badgers, buzzards, woodpeckers and the famous Ventnor Wall Lizards, plentiful in our garden, so reminiscent of the geckos seen on holidays in the med and the far east.
Do please email us with any questions you may have.
Hope you enjoy it all as much as we do,
Susie and John
